Chaibasa (Jharkhand), Oct. 14 -- Naxalites set fire to a mobile tower late last night, escalating Maoist violence. The incident took place in Bahda village, located in the dense Saranda forest area of West Singhbhum district.
According to local sources, around a dozen armed Naxalites entered the village under the cover of darkness, warning residents to remain indoors before pouring petrol on the tower's battery and panel equipment and setting them on fire.
Within minutes, the tower was engulfed in flames, and loud explosions were heard as the equipment burned and burst. Residents reported that the sounds of blasts continued until around 1 am.
