Gadchiroli, Oct. 1 -- A hardcore Naxal supporter was arrested during a joint anti-Naxal operation by police and CRPF personnel in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, officials said today.
The accused, identified as Sainu alias Sannu Amloo Mattami (38), a resident of Poyarkothi in Bhamragad taluka, was apprehended on Monday while allegedly conducting reconnaissance of security forces to carry out an attack, police said.
Mattami is suspected to have participated in the August 27 encounter in the Kothi forest area of Koparshi-Phulnar.
He was arrested during a search operation carried out by Bhamragad police and the 37th Battalion of the CRPF on the basis of specific intelligence, they said.
