Mumbai, Oct. 4 -- The much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport will be named after the late five-time MLA, Dinkar Balu Patil, also known as D B Patil.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made the announcement today, adding that the union Government had approved the naming proposal.
The airport will now be officially known as 'Loknete D B Patil Navi Mumbai International Airport'.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the state's proposal," Fadnavis said. The Centre had earlier approved the name 'Navi Mumbai International Airport' while granting permission for its construction.
