Bhubaneswar, Aug. 30 -- Expressing concern over the shortage of fertilisers in Odisha, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik today urged the Centre to immediately supply urea in the larger interest of the state's farmers.

Patnaik, in a letter to union Fertilisers and Chemicals Minister J.P. Nadda, alleged widespread irregularities in fertiliser distribution across Odisha.

He said farmers are in distress due to shortages, adulteration, and the unavailability of urea in the open market.

"Farmers have even taken to the streets as the fertiliser crisis has become acute, particularly in tribal-dominated districts," Patnaik wrote.
