Naveen questions BJP silence on immolation cases in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 12 -- BJD president and former Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed concern over what he described as a "heartbreaking pattern" of young girls in the state taking their lives by immolation.
Posting on his social media platform X, Patnaik wrote, "Deeply saddened, shocked, and anguished to learn that another girl from Gaisilat in Bargarh district has died after setting herself on fire. My condolences to the young girl's family, and my prayers are with them in this hour of grief. May God give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss."
He noted that four young girls have died in similar circumstances within just one month, calling the trend "deeply disturbing."
