Hamirpur, Jan. 20 -- The efforts made by the state government to promote natural farming on a large scale and increase farmers' income through it are yielding very good results.
The state government is buying wheat grown through natural farming at Rs. 60 per kg and maize at Rs. 40 per kg, while a price of Rs. 90 per kg has been fixed for raw turmeric.
Inspired by this scheme of the state government, Subhash Kapila, an educationist from Bairi Brahmna village in Bhukkar Gram Panchayat of Bhoranj sub-division, and his wife Urmila Kapila, have set an excellent example for the farmers and horticulturists of the region by producing approximately ten quintals of turmeric this season.
