Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 24 -- The second phase of the National Mental Health Survey (NMHS), spearheaded by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) on behalf of the union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has commenced in Kerala.

The survey aims to assess the prevalence of mental health conditions in the state, identify region-specific challenges, and support the formulation of effective policy measures.

It will focus on estimating the burden of mental health issues among adults and adolescents, the extent of disability caused by such conditions, the socio-economic impact on families and caregivers, levels of psychological stress, and the adequacy of existing healthcare systems.
