Pune, Feb. 22 -- A 'National Legislative Index' should be introduced to ensure transparent and objective evaluation of the performance of legislative bodies across states, said Vijender Gupta, Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly here today.
He emphasized that elected representatives entering Parliament are representatives of the people, not merely of political parties, and must uphold the sanctity, decorum, and dignity of the House.
Gupta was speaking as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the three-day 15th Indian Student Parliament, jointly organized by MIT World Peace University and MIT School of Government. The event was presided over by Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad.
