Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 6 -- Kerala will celebrate National Handloom Day on August 7 with a variety of programmes showcasing the socio-economic significance of state's handloom sector, marked by its long tradition, quality, diversity, and adaptability to new trends. The Kerala Government has rolled out several initiatives since 2016 aimed at strengthening the sector. These schemes focus on expanding market access, enhancing worker welfare, and ensuring financial and social security. Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir P Rajeeve will inaugurate the state-level celebrations. The event is being organised by the Directorate of Handloom & Textiles of the Department of Industries and Commerce.
