Nashik, Sept. 29 -- A tragic incident occurred in Nashik city's Gopalwadi area when a house wall collapsed amid heavy rains at midnight yesterday, killing a 62-year-old disabled man, Dilip Barku Thackeray. His wife was seriously injured and admitted to the district hospital.
The collapse was likely due to heavy rains that wreaked havoc in the district, flooding the Godavari river and damaging crops.
The rains caused significant disruption, with Dutondya Maruti, a statue of Lord Hanuman located on the banks of the Godavari in Nashik, being submerged.
