Nashik, Sept. 18 -- Nashik Rural Police have raided an illegal call centre in Igatpuri taluka, arresting two people and seizing equipment worth over Rs 24 lakh.
The raid, conducted on a call centre at Meenatai Thackeray Complex, was based on confidential information received by a team led by Igatpuri Police Station Police Inspector Sarika Ahirrao.
Police discovered that the call centre was making threatening and fraudulent calls to credit card and loan account holders, as well as their relatives and friends. The employees posed as bank representatives to illegally recover outstanding debts.
