Etah, Oct. 31 -- Panic gripped passengers when a bus carrying 45 people plunged into a five-foot-deep pit after the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle to escape being caught by locals.
The incident took place near Harvedi Inter College under the Kotwali Dehat police station area, police said today.
According to reports, the bus was traveling from Amapur to Firozabad, carrying members of a family and their relatives who were on their way to attend a post-wedding ritual last night.
A few minutes before the accident, the driver had allegedly hit two pedestrians while speeding. Fearing arrest, he attempted to flee but eventually leapt out of the moving bus, leaving the passengers helpless.
