Jammu, Nov. 14 -- Devyani Rana, daughter of late BJP MLA Devender Singh Rana, carried forward the legacy of her father by winning the Nagrota Assembly By-poll with a lead of 24,647 votes.
The Nagrota seat fell vacant last year after the death of senior leader Devender Singh Rana.
The BJP has retained the Nagrota assembly constituency with the victory of Devyani Rana, who secured 42,350 votes.
She defeated Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) candidate, three-time MLA and former minister Harsh Dev Singh, who polled 17,703 votes while National Conference's Shamim Begum finished third with 10,872 votes.
