Bhandara, March 4 -- A 30-year-old tourist from Maharashtra's Nagpur drowned after a boat capsized at Ravanwadi Dam in Bhandara district, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Mehra (30), a resident of Nagpur.

According to police, Mehra had come to the Ravanwadi reservoir along with 15-20 friends to celebrate Holi on Tuesday.

Authorities said the reservoir area had been closed to tourists for two days due to Holi and Rangpanchami. Boating activities were also prohibited during this period.

Despite the restrictions, a group of youths allegedly entered the premises and ventured into the water in a boat.
