Nagpur, Nov. 11 -- The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday commuted the death sentence of Guddu Chhotelal Rajak (42), found guilty of murdering his minor daughter, to life imprisonment.

The Special Sessions Court had sentenced Rajak to death on May 21, 2024.

As per Section 366 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, for the execution of a death sentence, the High Court must affirm it. Therefore, the State Government had filed this case in the High Court.

Rajak, a resident of Devinagar, Wanjara, had married three times and had two daughters and one son from his second wife, Aarti. It was alleged that Rajak raped his 16-year-old elder daughter multiple times and killed her.
