Dimapur, April 8 -- Chumoukedima DC Polan John today declared April 9, the polling day for the election to the Assam assembly, as a paid holiday in the district, bordering Assam.
The paid holiday will be applicable to all persons who are registered voters in Assam and are employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking, or other establishments and shops within Nagaland, including those working on shift basis, daily wage, or casual employment, the DC said in an order.
However, the notification clarified that the provision will not apply to electors whose absence from duty may cause danger or substantial loss in respect of the employment in which they are engaged.
