Dimapur, Dec. 18 -- The Nagaland government on Thursday officially notified 19 local languages and dialects spoken in the state for the purpose of engaging Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) under the postal department.
The notification, issued by the home department, stated that the identification of local languages is in line with the requirements of the postal department for certifying language proficiency among GDS applicants.
The languages identified include Angami, Ao, Chang, Chakhesang, Konyak, Khiamniungan, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Garo, Mikir, Kuki and Kachari.
