Mumbai, June 20 -- Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday announced that National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) will soon begin direct procurement from farmers, eliminating intermediaries from the agricultural production process.

He was speaking at a national seminar held in Mumbai on the occasion of the International Year of Cooperatives.

Shah expressed confidence that this move will help farmers get fair prices for their produce, and farmers can sell dal, maize and oilseeds to NAFED if they register on its app. But if the market rate is more, they can sell the produce directly,
