Naypyidaw, May 27 -- Myanmar has been hit by a staggering 180 aftershocks, ranging from magnitudes of 2.8 to 7.5, since a devastating 7.9-magnitude earthquake struck on March 28.

The country's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology confirmed the continuous seismic activity, which continues to rattle a nation already grappling with immense loss.

The initial tremor tragically claimed approximately 3,700 lives and injured over 5,100 people by May 24, with 75 individuals still unaccounted for, according to official data.

The relentless aftershocks, some quite powerful, complicate ongoing recovery efforts, posing an additional threat to already damaged infrastructure and psychologically impacting communities trying to rebuild.
