Aizawl, June 6 -- Amid an intensified crackdown on undocumented foreigners in New Delhi, a grassroots advocacy group, India for Myanmar, has issued a circular advising Myanmarese refugees living in the national capital to avoid venturing outside unless necessary.
The advisory, dated May 29, warned that the newly installed government in Delhi has shown a firm stance on deporting illegal migrants, particularly in the wake of heightened security concerns following recent India-Pakistan military tensions.
"Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingyas from Myanmar's Rakhine State have already been deported, and attention is now turning toward other Myanmar nationals residing in the city," the circular stated.
