Aizawl, Feb. 3 -- Assam Rifles seized heroin worth Rs 82.5 lakh and arrested a Myanmar national at Zokhawthar, a border town in Champhai district, on Monday, in yet another crackdown on cross-border smuggling.

Acting on specific intelligence report, Assam Rifles personnel intercepted a suspect riding a bike in Zokhawthar and recovered 10 hongs of heroin No. 4 from his possession. The arrested individual has been identified as 56-year-old Thangdeihpau, a Myanmar national.

The seized contraband and the accused have been handed over to Zokhawthar police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
