Naypyidaw, July 10 -- Myanmar authorities have seized 148.797 kgs of heroin in the country's Mandalay region, reported the state-owned daily Myanma Alinn.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Taung Taw village in Kyaukse township on June 22 and confiscated the drugs, the report said.
According to the investigation, the heroin was being transported from Mongyai township of Shan state to Mandalay region, it added. The seized drugs are worth over MMK3 billion ($1.42 million) on the black market, it said.
The suspects connected to the case have been charged under the country's laws, and further investigations are ongoing, it added.
