Kolkata, Jan. 12 -- Author and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says his understanding of religion is rooted in openness and plurality, rather than adherence to a single spiritual path.

Launching his book The Sage Who Reimagined Hinduism: The Life, Lessons & Legacy of Sree Narayana Guru here at the 17th Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival, Tharoor said, "I am not religious in the sense of being attached only to one way of seeing the divine."He said the Hinduism he had grown up with encouraged respect for diverse spiritual traditions and recognised that there were many paths to understanding the truth.
