Guwahati, Nov. 23 -- South Africa built strongly through the second session on Day 2, reaching a commanding 428 for 7 in 137 overs at lunch, powered by Senuran Muthusamy's maiden Test century and a blistering half-century from Marco Jansen.
At the interval, Muthusamy was unbeaten on 107 while Jansen remained on 51, their counterattacking eighth-wicket partnership pushing India firmly onto the back foot.
South Africa had earlier gone into tea at 316 for 6 in 111 overs, with Muthusamy well settled on 56 and Kyle Verreynne on 38.
