Mumbai, Sept. 22 -- Mumbai experienced tremendous spiritual energy on the inaugural day of Shardiya Navratri as devotees visited the city's prominent temples in substantial numbers.

Long queues formed outside Mumbadevi Temple in Bhuleshwar and Mahalaxmi Temple near Haji Ali since early morning, with worshippers arriving to seek blessings from Goddess Durga and her nine manifestations. The festival commenced with the traditional Kakad Aarti performed at Mumbadevi Temple at dawn, initiating nine days of religious observance and celebration.
