Mumbai, Aug. 19 -- Hundreds of families living along the Mithi River were forced to evacuate their homes today after the swollen river crossed the danger mark following hours of relentless downpour.
Around 400 residents from the Kranti Nagar slum in Kurla were shifted to the MM Municipal School, where the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has arranged for food and shelter.
Photographs shared by BMC's Ward L on X show homes in Kranti Nagar partially submerged, with civic and rescue teams working tirelessly to move people to higher ground.
