Mumbai, Sept. 11 -- More than 25,000 buildings in Mumbai, which were constructed as per the Development Control Rules of the civic authorities but have not received an Occupation Certificate (OC) due to various reasons, will shortly be regularised under a new government policy, a Maharashtra Minister said today.

Guardian Minister for Mumbai Suburbs Ashish Shelar told the media that lakhs of Mumbaikars were legally staying as "non-residents" despite living in their own homes for many years.

Shelar said the ordeal faced by these Mumbaikars was not due to any fault on their part, but because of loopholes in the rules and the mistakes of the developers.
