Mumbai, Oct. 13 -- Sources in the Mumbai Police Crime Branch investigating the Navy Nagar rifle theft case today ruled out any Maoist or terrorist links in the incident.
A senior officer connected with the investigation said that multiple angles were explored during the probe, but no evidence of terrorist involvement was found.
He added that the charge sheet will soon be filed against the two arrested accused, Agniveer Rakesh Dubbula (22), and his elder brother Umesh Dubbula (25).
According to police, the accused have confessed to stealing the INSAS rifle and magazines not only as a 'status symbol' in their village but also with the alleged intention of using the weapon for extortion and robbery.
