Mumbai, Aug. 9 -- In a major crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police claimed to have busted a larger mephedrone (MD) supply network in the city, arresting five people and seizing drugs worth Rs 10.07 crore in coordinated operations across Malad, Jogeshwari, Dadar, and Dongri.
According to ANC officials, the first breakthrough came on July 28, when the Ghatkopar Unit, while patrolling in Jogeshwari West, apprehended a suspect carrying 504 grams of MD. His associate was soon arrested, with 518 grams recovered from him. The twin arrests led to the seizure of narcotics worth Rs 2.55 crore.
