Mumbai, Sept. 15 -- Mumbai-based social activist Muhammed Jameel Merchant, one of the five petitioners who challenged the Waqf (Amendment) Act in the Supreme Court, expressed mixed feelings about the verdict delivered by the apex court today.
While Merchant had high hopes that the court would stay the new law, he acknowledged it was a "limited victory".
According to him, the legal battle would continue.
"While we had high hopes that the court would stay the entire Act, it has instead granted interim relief on certain provisions, keeping other crucial issues pending for final adjudication," Merchant said.
