Mumbai, Nov. 6 -- The Mumbai Metro administration has introduced a 25 percent discount on monthly trip passes for disabled passengers using Metro Line-3, as part of a major social welfare initiative.

The concession follows persistent campaigning by senior journalist and social activist Deepak Kaitke, who had long advocated special fare considerations for differently-abled commuters.

Kaitke had repeatedly approached metro authorities and state government officials, urging them to provide discounted travel facilities for disabled citizens so they could access metro services more affordably. Acting on his recommendations, the administration has now formally approved the 25 percent discount scheme.
