Mumbai, Jan. 24 -- The election for the post of Mayor of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will now be held in February, as seat-sharing and post-allocation talks between the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) under the MahaYuti alliance remain incomplete.

Earlier, the BMC administration had announced that nomination papers for the mayoral election would be accepted until January 27, with voting scheduled for January 31 at noon.

Orders in this regard were issued by Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani. However, it has now become clear that conducting the election as per this schedule is not feasible.
