Mumbai, Oct. 1 -- In a significant operation, the Mumbai Airport Customs have dismantled a drug smuggling syndicate, resulting in the arrest of three individuals, including the consignment recipient, and the seizure of cocaine valued at about Rs 30 crore, officials said.

The action was taken based on specific intelligence inputs, leading to the interception of two passengers who had arrived from Bangkok at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

During a thorough examination of the passengers' baggage, customs officers discovered 2.992 kg of a white powdered substance suspected to be methaqualone or cocaine.

The narcotics were cleverly concealed inside the checked-in luggage carried by one of the passengers.
