Mumbai, June 6 -- A sanitary inspector was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs two lakhs from a businessman for issuing health licence for an establishment, a Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official said here on Friday.
He was posted with the H/East ward of the Bombay Municipal Corporation.
The ACB said the complainant approached the accused inspector, Sarabjit Singh Bajwa, for the issuance of a health department licence, who demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh.
Accordingly, the complainant paid Rs three lakhs as advance money, and later Bajwa was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant, the official said.
