Mumbai, July 7 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended rainfall alerts across coastal Maharashtra through July 9, maintaining a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar districts with forecasts of heavy showers and gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph in isolated areas.

Concurrently, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts remain under orange alert for very heavy downpours.

The weather system, driven by cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh, will bring thunderstorms and strong winds to Konkan and ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra. Current conditions show Mumbai experiencing light rain at 29degC with 80% humidity and 31 km/h winds as of 9 AM July 7.
