Mumbai, May 7 -- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, Thursday suspended all flight operations for six hours as part of its scheduled pre-monsoon maintenance programme.
The closure, aimed at ensuring runway safety ahead of the monsoon season, has impacted over 500 flights, with several diversions reported.
According to the standard procedure followed by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), both runways 09/27 and 14/32 were closed from 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs. The maintenance window is conducted twice annually, once before and once after the monsoon, to inspect and upgrade critical airside infrastructure.
