Chennai, Feb. 4 -- Officials of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) have foiledmultiple smuggling attempts at the Chennai International airport and arrested fourpeople in this connection, besides seizing gold and foreign currencies from them.

A PIB release here on Wednesday said based on spot profiling, officers of the AirportCustoms, intercepted an Indian male passenger who arrived from Dubai by Air Indiaflight at the Anna International airport.

On examination, three balls of gold paste were recovered, which had been concealedinside the rectum of the passenger.

Upon extraction, 940 grams of 24K gold, valued at Rs. 1.37 crore, was recovered.
