Mumbai, July 7 -- A major security operation is underway along Maharashtra's Raigad coastline after a suspected foreign vessel disappeared following its detection near Korlai coast Sunday evening.

The boat, bearing unidentified markings and tentatively linked to Pakistani origins, was initially spotted two nautical miles off Revdanda before vanishing from radar surveillance, triggering deployment of Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and state police units, officials said Monday.

Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal personally oversaw response efforts, attempting to approach the vessel via a barge before monsoon conditions, including heavy rain and 60 kmph winds, forced a retreat.
