London, June 6 -- Efe Cakarel, founder and chief executive officer of the prestigious arthouse streaming platform Mubi, took centrestage at SXSW London to share the company's burgeoning ambitious following a banner year at the Cannes Film Festival.

While originally aiming to champion no more than 12 curated releases annually, Mubi has already surpassed that target with 15 feature titles in 2025 alone, months ahead of the Venice Film Festival.

Cakarel shared his love of the cinema-going experience early in his appearance, saying, "I really focus on theatrical," and "I am very committed to these films getting as wide a release in cinemas as possible", reports The Hollywood Reporter.
