Harda, May 27 -- Three youths died after drowning in the Narmada river while taking a bath on the occasion of Amavasya festival in Harda district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Ramdas (38) from Laharapur, Devendra Jat (23) from Dagaonima, and Karan Jat (20) from Bhunnas village.

Police sources said the incident occurred at the Narmada River ghat in Lchhora village of Timarni tehsil. The three youths went to bathe in the river on the morning of Amavasya and drowned in the deep water.

The police have recovered the bodies of the three youths from the river and sent them for post-mortem examination at the district hospital.
