Bhopal, Oct. 23 -- Congress state President Jitu Patwari today slammed the Madhya Pradesh government over the law and order situation, questioning who is giving protection to criminals following a recent attack on police.

In a post on social media, Patwari detailed the incident in Panna district where Pancham Yadav, who is accused of culpable homicide, and 40 to 50 people attacked a police team with axes.

"A station house officer and a constable were taken hostage. After the attack, eight policemen had to flee, leaving their weapons behind. Where has such audacity come from?" he said.

Patwari also cited six previous assaults on law enforcement authorities since May last year-in Shahdol, Rajgarh, Rewa's Mauganj, Sheopur, Dhar, and Panna. ...
