Bhind (MP), Aug. 25 -- Flood-like conditions have been created in a part of Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh as the Chambal river's level is rapidly increasing, officials said today.
The level is constantly rising since late Saturday and at 8 p.m. last night the river was flowing 5 m above the danger mark.
Water has reached Mukutpura, Navli and Vrindavan Road in the Ater area.. The base of Ater Fort is also waterlogged. Eight to ten villages are being affected. Many roads are inundated and water is filling up low-lying areas.
In view of the situation, the administration has sounded an alert for villages on the banks of the Chambal. Circumstances are more serious owing to heavy rainfall in neighbouring Rajasthan.
