Srinagar, April 4 -- Jammu and Kashmir National Conference MP Ruhullah Mehdi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the central government over the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it a "blatant move to dispossess Muslims and a reflection of brute majoritarianism".

In a strongly worded statement, Ruhullah said, "India has moved into a dark era where minority interests have been shown the door. The Waqf Bill, passed in the dead of night, reaffirms the RSS-BJP regime's anti-Muslim, anti-minority intent."

Without naming BJP, the National Conference MP said a party that doesn't have a single Muslim MP has no moral or political right to speak for Muslims.
