Bhopal, Jan. 1 -- Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Thursday came under fire after using abusive language against media persons who questioned him about deaths linked to contaminated Narmada river water in Indore, even as the toll rose to 14.
Vijayvargiya, who hails from Indore, initially dismissed the media's queries as "baseless" and attempted to avoid answering them.
However, when journalists persisted, the minister used abusive language against some reporters. A video of the incident later went viral on social media.
Following the backlash, the minister admitted his mistake and issued an apology on social media.
The opposition Congress strongly criticised the minister's conduct.
