New Delhi/Ranchi, March 16 -- Hazaribagh MP Manish Jaiswal on Monday raised the issue of increasing elephant attacks in Jharkhand in the Lok Sabha under Rule 377, drawing attention to the rising human-wildlife conflict in several districts of the state.

Jaiswal said incidents of elephant attacks have increased significantly in recent years, leading to loss of lives as well as damage to houses and standing crops in rural areas.

Citing available reports, he said more than 450 people have died in elephant attacks in Jharkhand since 2019-20, while the death toll over the past 18 to 20 years is estimated to be between 1,200 and 1,300.
