Gangtok, Aug. 8 -- Sikkim's Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Dr. Indra Hang Subba has urged the central government to take urgent measures to improve the condition of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in rural, tribal, and high-altitude parts of the state.
In a letter to Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, Dr. Subba highlighted the poor infrastructure in many AWCs and called for enhanced funding and policy support.
He noted that Anganwadi Centres are the backbone of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, providing early education, nutrition, and basic healthcare to children and pregnant women.
