Bhopal, Aug. 29 -- Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary (CS) Anurag Jain has become the first CS in the state to directly receive a one-year extension in service, and, as a result, he will remain in office till August 2026.

Jain was due to retire on August 31, but the union government approved his extension of one year. The union Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued the orders for Jain's extension.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav traveled to New Delhi twice in three days, on Tuesday and Thursday. The CM had taken Anurag Jain with him to Delhi on Tuesday, after the state cabinet meeting at Bhopal.

The CM met union Home Minister Amit Shah and the visit was being considered a signal for the effort to get an extension for Jain.
