Bhopal, July 29 -- Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh today informed the Assembly that the government is preparing to soon make state Text Book Corporation books compulsory for classes I to VIII.
Replying to a calling attention notice by Ajay Singh (principal-opposition Congress), the Minister said, "The Corporation is working in this direction. The dispensation has had text books published and distributed."
Earlier, A Singh said the government ought to make NCERT books compulsory for classes I to VIII.
"Private schools are enhancing fees at will and guardians are being compelled to purchase books and uniforms from certain shops. School bags are far heavier than the standard," he added.
