Lucknow, Nov. 22 -- Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has directed officials of the Rural Development Department to set a goal of creating one crore "lakhpati Didis" in the state.

The Deputy CM said, "All officials should meet and formulate a concrete and effective strategy. A revolution is needed in the field of women's empowerment in the state."He said a district-wise list of self-help groups producing processed food should be compiled and they should be linked to the Food Processing Department and provided with subsidies as per the rules.

"Women from 8,000 self-help groups have benefited from the Prime Minister's Micro Food Industry Upgradation Scheme," he said.
