Chennai, Oct. 14 -- Mourning the victims of the ghastly stampede at Karur during a rally of actor politician Vijay on September 27, which claimed 41 lives, the Tamil Nadu Assembly today adopted a condolence resolution.
The House also observed a moment of silence to honour the victims.
The House passed condolence resolutions mourning the demise of former Kerala Chief Minister and Marxist veteran V S Achuthanandan, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, former Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, CPI veteran Sudhakar Reddy, IAS officer Bela Venkatesan and AIADMK legislator Amul Kandasamy. The Speaker also read out obituary references on the passing away of 8 former members of the House. The House was then adjourned for the day.
